ABOUT PITTA

According to Ayurveda, the human body consists of three energies and Pitta is one of those energies or doshas. The other two are vatta and kapha. A combination of fire and water, pitta controls the temperature, metabolic system and heat transformation of the mind as well as the body.

How to Identify the Pitta Dosha in Our Body?

Pitta is based on 2 components – Fire and Water

Those with Pitta dosha are athletic and have a strong build. Their sleep is little but sound, hunger is good with strong digestion. They are of tenacious nature and so can be aggressive at times but mostly they are goal-oriented and motivated.

When in balance: People with pitta dosha are intelligent, passionate and dynamic. They are highly perceptive and efficient.

When out of balance: People with pitta dosha are intensive, competitive and over critical of others. They are prone to inflammation and acne. Always hungry and have mood swings.

How to Balance Pitta Dosha: Avoid extreme heat, extreme weather and spicy food. Focus on maintaining work-life balance. Practice yoga, meditation and breathing exercises as slow downs the brain and even calms the mind. It is recommended to eat ground foods that neutralize the dosha such as milk, cucumber, melon, butter, rice and avoid spices such as hot peppers, onion and garlic.
